Who is Hato from Peace Child and what is their importance?

Hato also appears in the group of warriors that Richardson meets upon his first journey into the jungle. Hato is a patriarch of the Kamur village, one of the villages that comes to live in the area surrounding Richardson's house. For one chapter, Richardson describes the various duties of Hato and his family as they go about the work of living in the jungle.
