Why did Alex insist on having a meeting with Souza in Chapter 30?

Alex insists on having a meeting with Souza in Chapter 30 in order to give him new information about Jamey. Alex informs Souza that Jamey is innocent in the slasher murders and is also being poisoned. Alex also makes Souza watch the video that shows Tully Antrim's confession to the slasher murders.
