Describe symbolism in Outer Dark by Cormac McCarthy

Much of the novel's symbolism can be found in its characters. Rinthy symbolizes purity and goodness; Cully symbolizes selfishness.... a man without a soul; and the blind man is a symbol of faith.... blind faith.
