Who is Devine from Out of the Silent Planet and what is their importance?

Devine is one of the antagonists of the novel. He is a greedy and wealthy English man. He is bankrolling Weston’s space ship project so he can exploit other worlds. He kidnaps Ransom as a bargaining tool to trade with the Sorns.
