Who is Augray from Out of the Silent Planet and what is their importance?

Augray is a sorn, an 18-foot-high humanoid creature. Augray lives in the mountains. He assists Ransom on his journey to the island of Meldilorn. He provides Ransom with food and shelter. He shows Ransom Earth in the night sky and explains that Earth is what they call the “Silent Planet”.
