How is the sun an important symbol in Milton's poem, On the Morning of Christ’s Nativity?

The sun is a symbol of the pagan world. Most pagan cultures worshipped sun gods, or the sun itself as a god. Some of them, like Apollo, are named in the poem. However, Milton also separately personifies the sun as a symbol of these gods.
