In Chapter Twenty-Seven, Curtis's grandmother gives Bri a suspicious look when she comes home to find Bri at the house with Curtis because Bri has never been to Curtis's house alone with Curtis before and Curtis's grandmother is a gossip and is somewhat circumspect towards Bri to begin with.
