The relationship between writing as a career and writing as a passion is one where the lines distinguishing them are frequently blurred. King feels it is acceptable to earn money from writing (he certainly has), but the passionate writer is one who is constantly trying to improve upon his art and cannot limit himself to writing for money. The passionate writer writes even when he is not earning money from his writing as King did for years.
