In the chapter, On Writing, King expresses his belief that the smallest amount of description possible is the best course, because otherwise the descriptions will sound like a clothing catalog. He feels that description should give the reader an idea of the setting, but leave something to the reader's imagination. Going back to King's statements that vocabulary should be honest, and a writer shouldn't try to improve his vocabulary simply to impress the reader, I believe King's beliefs on description are consistent with his statements that writing should be honest.
