Why does Olga feel that Prieto has been born under a difficult star?

Olga feels that Prieto has been born under a difficult star. He was born too early to feel entitled to be himself in society. He had been born too affected by their parents' influence to be avaricious. He has a child to care for and protect. He has enemies she knows of and enemies she can only imagine. Now she worries that he has AIDS.
