Drugs offer an avenue for relief for Jeanette. A fraught relationship with her mother, a history of molestation at the hands of her father and a tumultuous romance with Mario all lead Jeanette to search for comfort elsewhere. Ultimately, Jeanette’s desperation for relief leads to lethal drug overdose.
