The bond between Lennie and George is so strong because of their dependence on each other. In their world it is right for George to kill Lennie because to have anyone else do it would be an act of breaking their bond. George is responsible for Lennie; he knows he has to die becaue of what he did, and he knows he has to be the one to do it.
