What is the theme in Oedipus the King by Sophocles?

One major theme in Oedipus Rex is fate. In Oedipus Rex, we see that Laius is unable to escape his fate by murdering his son, and Oedipus is unable to escape his own fate in that he murders his father...... Oedipus fulfills his fate regardless of human action.
