Odysseus changes throughout the Odyssey in that at the beginning of his tale is a celebrated war hero anxious to return home to his family and kingdom. He is shown to be a good person and a staunch follower of the gods and their ways. Unfortunately, this becomes his fatal flaw in that the gods exploit this and he is set adrift, kept from his home for a long time. He becomes more humble, thinks before he indiscriminately kills someone, and often uses his brain rather than his brawn to get himn out of trouble.
