How does the author use irony in the novel, Nothing But Blue Skies?

McGuane uses irony in the way he portrays frank's wife and their marriage. Grace uses fishing, one of her husband's favorite pastimes, to buy the opportunity to carry on the affair that broke up their marriage. Ironically, the purity and release found in the Sixteen River which is damaged by her deception stills provides the opportunity for her to send Frank the message that she wants him back, and that she wanted him back even then. In the novel's conclusion, she uses verbal irony when she says that "there's nothing crazier than picking up exactly where you left off," and that is exactly where they do pick up.
