How does Sandy's life change after Hager's death?

Tempy takes Sandy with her. When Sandy arrives at "Tempy's House", she gives him a room of his own with its own dresser, closet and bed; there was also a bathroom upstairs with running water; Sandy had never had such access before. Tempy also encouraged Sandy to focus on his education.
