Normal People
What is the author's tone in the novel, Normal People?
.
.
The language of Normal People is largely accessible, the syntax familiar, and the dialogue quick and smart. The narrative tone therefore feels true to the lives and experiences of teenagers moving gradually into an adult consciousness. As Marianne and Connell's lives expand into the collegiate domain, the syntax and diction of the narrative does gain some formal complexity, or more nuanced style.
