What happens after Kitty changes the notes, in "Chapter 3"?

After Kitty changes the notes, Boy becomes very angry and fears they will no longer be able to pass as white. Later, Kitty's black co-workers are fired for it, and she feels so guilty she quits and returns to Jamaica.
