Are there places like Oceania today?

I don't think there are places that follow the extent of Oceania. I think Oceania is a conceptualized extension of closed communist / dictatorship societies. You might consider a country North Korea as having some similarities. I think there are shades of 1984 in most societies which is why the book is still so important.
