Are there character foils in this novel?

You might consider Winston and Julia to be character foils. Although they have a relationship, they really are not alike. Winston is an older intellectual who spends his time contemplating Ingsoc and the philosophical implications of the party. Julia is a young woman merely out to break the rules and have a good time.
