This is a question that needs a lot more detail than this short-answer space has. Newspeak is a language desined to destroy language. It is designed to break down the human spirit: to destroy the human ability to express emotion. Essentially, the language was designed to limit the range of thought. Orwell essentually uses Newspeak as a literary device to help the reader understand how the human spirit is limited and then essentially broken.
