Who is John Quinn from The Chosen from Night World No. 2: Dark Angel; the Chosen; Soulmate and what is their importance?

John Quinn was the son of a preacher living in Boston in the 1600s when he fell in love with Dove Redfern. Unbeknownst to him, Dove and her family were lamia, born vampires. In order to allow him to marry Dove, Hunter Redfern turned Quinn into a vampire. In the immediate aftermath of his conversion, Quinn was frightened and ran to his father for help. Rather than help, Quinn's father killed Dove and tried to kill him. For that reason, Quinn spent more than four hundred years ruthlessly torturing and killing humans as part of the powerful Redfern family.
