Natalie in particular is very strongly developed, her text in both the songs and the dialogue very strongly evocative of a contemporary troubled teen. Diana is also effectively drawn, her illness becoming clear through her actions, rather than the audience being told that she's ill. Dan's patience is also clear, if somewhat less vivid.
