In the middle of all this volatility and uncertainty, there is the character of Henry. In the middle of a quartet of characters (Diana and her family) who each sing, with varying degrees of intense emotion and or self-delusion, he is the one who is consistently honest, genuinely caring, and matter-of-fact about himself, his relationships, and his feelings.
