Who is Dave Kendall from Next and what is their importance?

Dave Kendall was created in a lab. Dave is the product of a DNA experiment Henry Kendall performed in order to study the genetic basis of autism. Dave was supposed to die in utero, but a quarantine causes Henry to lose track of the animal. Henry wrongly assumes Dave to have died and forgets about him. However, years later, Henry is introduced to Dave, a chimpanzee who is so human-like that Henry cannot allow him to be destroyed. Henry sneaks Dave out of the lab and takes him home to raise him as one of his own children.
