How does Rukmani learn that there is trouble at the tannery?

She and Nathan are in town to do her shopping and, as is becoming their habit when in town, Rukmani and Nathan go to the tannery to meet their sons for lunch. However, on this day, their sons--or any of the other workers--fail to come out of the tannery and there are guards surrounding the building.
