What are the motifs in Mythology by Edith Hamilton?

The Greek myths all have one thing in common. They emphasize the absolute importance of showing proper respect to the gods. The gods were represented in the myths as behaving a little like ordinary humans. Like humans, they could be insulted and get angry, they could be vindictive and cruel, and they had desires and fell in love. They could therefore be appeased and angered in the same kinds of ways as humans. They took offense when mortals were rude to them, put them down, disobeyed them, thought themselves better than them, or made them jealous.
