Julie of the Wolves is about a girl that runs away from an unbearable family life that she feels she has no control over. The same thing can be said of Sam from the book, My Side of the Mountain. Sam lives with 11 brothers and sisters in the city and has no privacy. Additionally, both find solace and belonging, not from humans, but from the creatures of the wild.
