The story is written in an informal informational manner. There are three parts to the story, each containing seven chapters. In each part, the fist six chapters are titled and numbered in the contents. In Parts One and Two, the unnumbered final chapters are both titled conversation, and in Part Three the final chapter is titled The Return. The title of each chapter explains the setting and foreshadows the events of the chapter. The chapters average thirteen pages in length with the exception of The Return, which is only three pages long.
