Mr. Murder by Dean Koontz is written in three parts. Part one has three sections. In the first, the reader is introduced to Marty and his family and to the killer. The chapters within this section alternate between Marty's reality and the killer's. The first sixteen chapters cover the killer's migration from Kansas to Marty's house. Section two has nine chapters. In this section, The Other is convinced that Marty's family is his family and that Marty has stolen them. In fact, he is sure that Marty has stolen his entire identity, and is eager to reclaim it.
