The novel is told from an omniscient, third person point of view. The reader receives many views from a multitude of characters this way, and all the perspectives are in third person. The third person point of view has the ability to give enough description to set up the Galaxy, including the various planets, for the reader. For science fiction, the reader must be immersed into a new world with different rules and places.
