Why does Berkmann believe that Harper will not take the recording he made to the cops?

On the tape Berkmann made for Harper, he says that Erin died by accident. Kali's jealousy caused the two women to fight, and that fight turned deadly. Berkmann did not go to Harper's house with the intention of killing Erin.
