Who is Rincewind from Mort and what is their importance?

Rincewind is the Assistant Librarian of Unseen University. Unfortunately, his job has nothing to do with books and involves in caring for the Librarian's bananas. The Librarian, an "orangoutang," is the only one who knows where books are kept.
