Bamie resembled Theodore, Sr. She suffered from Pott's disease and the other children regarded her as a grownup. Teedie suffered from asthma. He was frail and undersized. Elliott was good-looking and kind. He soon became bigger than Teedie. Corinne was the youngest of the children. The children were tutored by their Aunt Anna and they had few other playmates.
