Under the Articles of Confederation, what are some of the weaknesses of government?

Under the Articles of Confederation the government has no power to collect taxes, defend a country, or pay off the public debt. The Articles are sufficient to help the colonies unite to win the war, but they do not offer a sustainable plan for successfully continuing during peace time.
