What is the author's style in Midnight Magic by Avi?

The language of the novel is simple English. The novel includes some Italian words, such as the proper address of men and women of some stature. These words, however, are easily explained by their usage and most likely will not confuse the readers. The language is also the plainer type of language a child of twelve will most likely use, supporting the age of the main character and fitting for the intended audience of young readers.
