How does the theme of appearance versus reality emerge within the stories that Scheherazade tells to Habara?

Habara notes near the beginning of the story that he has no idea whether Scheherazade's "stories were true, invented, or partly true and partly invented: (114). He notes that pure fancy, observation, reality, and supposition seem to be smashed together into each one of Scheherazade's stories. Ultimately, though, he comments that it does not matter to him how much of each story is true and how much is fantasy, since his uncertainty allows him to experience each story "as a child might, without questioning too much" (114).
