How does Kitaru justify to Tanimura his butchering of the lyrics to the Beatles' song Yesterday?

When Tanimura gets annoyed at Kitaru for singing the wrong words to Yesterday, Kitaru defends himself by saying that John (Lennon) had "loved nonsense and word games" (48).
