What does Maggie represent?

Maggie symbolizes the spectrum of regret and forgiveness that the novel spans. While Maggie could blame Sydney for breaking up her relationship with Ridge in the same way that he blames himself, she instead forgives him and empowers him to remember the happy times that they spent together.
