Regret represent

Regret symbolizes a repentance for youthful mistakes or oversights in the novel. Throughout the novel, all of the characters display some measure of regret for the decisions they made in the past mostly because of their continuance into the future. For example, Sydney spending such a long time in a relationship with Hunter in her early years when she could have been exploring her own life.
