What is the author's tone in Matched by Ally Condie?

The tone is lyrical and determined. Poetry is cherished in the novel, and the author uses poetry from Tennyson to demonstrate the power of words and to show how words can stand the test of time and keep a person alive. She uses the poetry to demonstrate how one can use words to stand up against unfair treatment. The futuristic language and ideas are easily understandable since they are spinoffs of our own materials, words, and scientific knowledge.
