Who is Saint-Simon from Marx for Beginners and what is their importance?

Saint-Simon was a French "utopian socialist." He wanted to create the perfect society, envisioning a planned economy, a society that promoted the welfare of the poor classes and ended the leisure of the wealthy. He also proposed a new religion. Note, Saint-Simon's theory did not discuss or acknowledge class struggle.
