What do Haddad and Bill argue about in the novel, Mao II?

Haddad and Bill engage in a series of intense arguments over the similarity in intent of terrorism and writing novels, a similarity that Bill had himself commented on but which, as the result of his conversations with Haddad, he angrily rejects.
