What are your thoughts on Amanda Beale?

Amanda is one of those people you long to meet once in your life. She likes Magee for who he is. She sees his vulnerabilities and helps him. Amanda is a black girl from the East End of Two Mills while Magee is a white boy in the East end. Amanda sees that Maniac Magee is bullied and takes a liking to him. She even lets him borrow one of her most prized possessions, a book. Amanda even gives him her bedroom when her parents let him stay with them.
