How do the witches affect Macbeth?

This depends on which meeting you mean. In the initial meeting the witches suggest that Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor and then King. This first confuses Macbeth and then gets his obsessive brain considering the possibilities. Macbeth dismisses the witches to Banquo but secretly obsesses about what they said.
