Who is Adrian Spencer-Moscou from Lost and what is their importance?

Adrian Spencer-Moscou and his partner, Geoff, attend the same Forever Families meeting as Winnie at the beginning of the novel. Adrian is the one who exposes Winnie for attending the group as a writer researching for her novel, rather than as someone sincerely looking to adopt a child.
