Other than the prize money, why does Hornblower want to capture the French East India ship in the novel, Lord Hornblower?

The capture of the French East India ship is an important part of Hornblower's plan to deal with mutineers. He wants the French to think the mutineers attack and capture the French East India, and thus cut off the mutineers' possible escape route.
