How is the Christmas celebration in chapter nineteen different from Christmas a year before?

The previous Christmas the girls felt the effects of the war and not having all of the things they wanted. This Christmas they receive more of the material things that they hoped for. They still remember the lessons of last Christmas and take joy in being together and helping others, though.
