How did Stalin gain absolute control over history?

Stalin ordered that a strict ideological version of history was to become the doctrine in all textbooks, schools, universities, and institutes. Stalin himself supervised an ideological tract that was a textbook with all events in the book leading to the conclusion of the rightness of the present regime.
