Ostap is Kyra's brother-in-law. Kyra asks Ostap to help her find Mack. After his wife is arrested, Ostap finds Mack and uses him to gain his wife's release. Once Ostap sees how badly Mack has been beaten, he helps him escape from Alekhin.
